world‑renowned American‑Canadian dramatic soprano
Sondra Radvanovsky (born April 11, 1969, in Berwyn, Illinois) is a world‑renowned American‑Canadian dramatic soprano, widely celebrated as one of the leading interpreters of Verdi, Puccini, and bel canto repertoire of her generation.

Radvanovsky’s passion for opera took root early, inspired by televised productions as a child. After formal studies at the University of Southern California, UCLA, and the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, she won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 1995 and made her Met debut the following year — launching a stellar international career.
Her repertoire spans some of opera’s most demanding roles, including Aida, Tosca, Turandot, Leonora (Il trovatore), and the three “Tudor Queens” — Anna Bolena, Maria Stuarda, and Elizabeth I (Roberto Devereux). Radvanovsky is equally admired for intense dramatic portrayals and a rich, powerful soprano that combines emotional depth with technical command.
Critics and audiences alike hail her as one of the most compelling opera voices of today, with performances across the world’s major houses — from the Met and Royal Opera House to La Scala and Opéra National de Paris — and frequent features in Met: Live in HD broadcasts.
Offstage, she continues to expand her artistic reach with recordings, recitals, and collaborations with leading orchestras, upholding a legacy that inspires both established fans and a new generation of opera lovers.
